I attended Sanderson High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. My father was a climatologist and meteorologist with what ultimately became the EPA and encouraged and nurtured my interest in science from an early age. After graduating from UNC Chapel Hill in 1975 I served as an officer in the Navy until 1998 when I retired at the rank of Commander. I completed a Masters Degree in Education from the College of Charleston in 2000 and began teaching at Bishop England later that year. I am married and have been a resident of Sullivan's Island since 1977 where we built a home in 1983, doing a lot of the work ourselves.
I spend summers helping my wife's family run a resort, think fishing camp, on a lake in northern Minnesota
My son and daughter are both BE graduates. My son is a graduate of Winthrop University and my daughter is a graduate of Conordia College in Moorehead, Minnesota (which is right next to Fargo, ND)
During my time in the Navy I discovered my talent as an instructor and determined that I would be a teacher when I finished my service. I love the atmosphere and the mission at BE and have every intention of teaching science there as long as they will let me.
